OPPORTUNITY : Project Manager for a Musical Lounge Restaurant
Background and Objective of the Call for Applications
Lounge Life Douala aims to launch an innovative musical lounge restaurant in the Douala 5ᵉ district (Bonamoussadi), a venue celebrating live Cameroonian music (makossa, afrobeat, bikutsi) and a fusion of local and international cuisine. With a capacity of 100 seats, this space aspires to become a culinary and cultural landmark in Douala.
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the project from A to Z, in a local context marked by logistical challenges (supply chains, energy) and strong competition in the entertainment sector. Key objectives include:
- Structuring the project with a detailed roadmap.
- Coordinating service providers (architects, sound engineers, decorators, suppliers).
- Developing a unique musical concept and programming local artists.
- Managing a budget estimated between 50–100 million FCFA.
- Building a network of partners (sponsors, media, DJs, labels).
- Overseeing and securing the required licenses and authorizations.
Desired Profile
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Project Management, Hospitality, Event Planning, or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years in the nightlife or hospitality sector).
- At least 3 years’ experience opening or managing a restaurant, bar, lounge, or club, ideally in Cameroon or elsewhere in Africa.
Technical Skills
- Project management tools (e.g., Excel, Trello).
- Knowledge of hygiene (HACCP) and safety (ERP) standards.
- Expertise in artist booking and music programming.
- Ability to optimize costs and manage unpredictabilities (power outages, delays).
- Administrative experience in securing operational licenses.
Soft Skills
- Leadership, excellent communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong network in Douala’s music and nightlife industry (DJs, artists, sponsors).
- Creative mindset to propose a differentiated and attractive concept.
- Proficiency in French; English and/or Pidgin is a plus.
