For our Country Office in Cameroon, we are looking for a dynamic and committed Field Programme Coordinator
Reports to: Conservation Director, WWF Cameroon
Supervises: Jengi TNS Programme Manager, Kudu Zumbo Programme Executant, Coastal Forest Programme Manager, Jengi TRIDOM Programme Executant
Location: Yaounde, Cameroon
Duration: Two (02) years renewable
Mission of the Department
To promote and ensure the highest standards of conservation delivery at field level in line with WWF- Cameroon Conservation Strategy, Organizational Strategic Plan (OSP) and the WWF Practices’ priorities.
Job Purpose
The Field Programme Coordinator (FPC) is responsible for the overall coordination, performance and quality delivery of WWF Cameroon’s field programmes.
The FPC provides operational leadership and oversight to all field programmes, ensuring that conservation initiatives are effectively implemented, monitored and aligned with WWF Cameroon’s strategic priorities, donor commitments and national conservation agendas.
Working closely with the Conservation Director, the FPC ensures accountability, coherence and performance management across all landscapes, while supporting resource mobilization, partnerships and continuous programme improvement.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1.
Field Operations Oversight and Delivery

Ensure overall on-site supervision and performance of WWF field programmes through regular field missions.

Coordinate the effective delivery of conservation projects at field level, providing strategic and operational guidance to Programme Managers.

Monitor implementation progress, identify bottlenecks, and ensure timely corrective actions.

Promote a culture of accountability, delivery, and results-based management across all field teams.
2.
Programme Coordination and Strategic Alignment

Ensure all field programme activities are aligned with WWF Cameroon’s OSP, Roadmap 2030,

and national priorities.

Support the development and refinement of landscape strategies and idea notes, ensuring strong strategic positioning.

Contribute to the revision and implementation of WWF Cameroon’s Strategic Plan.
3.
Resource Mobilization and Partnership Development

Support field programmes in resource mobilization efforts, including:
o
Identification and sharing of funding opportunities
o
Development and review of concept notes and proposals
o
Engagement with donors and partners (in close collaboration with the Conservation Director)

Strengthen coordination with partners to ensure synergies and leveraging of resources across programmes.
4.
Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL)

In collaboration with the PMEL team, ensure effective planning, monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems are implemented across all field programmes.

Ensure:
o
Timely preparation of annual and operational work plans
o
Regular updating of GANTT charts and tracking tools
o
Timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual reports

Promote data quality, learning, and evidence-based decision-making.

Ensure that ecological and socio-economic monitoring systems are effectively implemented across all sites.
5.
Financial and Grant Management Oversight

Ensure field programmes operate within approved budgets and financial plans, in coordination with the Finance team.

Monitor expenditure trends and proactively flag risks related to budget overruns, pre-financing, or funding gaps.

Ensure alignment between technical implementation and financial performance.
6.
Team Leadership and Capacity Development

Line-manage Programme Managers and provide regular coaching, supervision, and performance feedback.

Strengthen the technical and managerial capacities of field teams.

Foster a collaborative, accountable, and performance-driven culture across programmes.
7.
Stakeholder Engagement and Representation

Ensure effective stakeholder engagement at site level, including government authorities, local communities, NGOs, and private sector actors.

Support Programme Managers in managing complex partnerships and conflict situations.

Contribute to maintaining strong relationships with key national institutions and strategic partners.
8. Governance and Institutional Frameworks

Support the implementation, monitoring, and revision of MoUs between WWF and government partners (including MINFOF) and other stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with WWF policies, safeguards, and operational standards across all field programmes.
Profile:
Required Qualifications

Advanced university degree in conservation, natural resource management, forestry, wildlife ecology, environmental science, or related field.

Additional training or degree in management, project management, or business administration is an asset.
Required Experience

Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 3 years in a
project or programme management role in Cameroon or similar contexts.

Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex field programmes.

Demonstrated track record in conservation programme delivery, project management, and donor-funded initiatives.
Required Skills and Competencies

Strong leadership and team management skills

Proven ability in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation

Experience in proposal development and donor engagement

Solid understanding of financial and grant management

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

Ability to work effectively in multicultural and multi-stakeholder environments

Fluency in English and French (written and spoken)

Strong commitment to nature conservation and sustainable development.

Working Relationships:

Internal – Works closely with the Conservation Director, Country Director, Programme Managers, PMEL, Finance, and other WWF Cameroon staff, as well as WWF Regional and International teams.

External – Engages with government institutions (including MINFOF and other relevant ministries), donors, NGOs, academic institutions, local communities, private sector actors, and other key stakeholders.
