The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Cameroon is looking for a Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (PMEL) Intern

For our Cameroon Country Office, we are looking for a dynamic and committed a Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (PMEL) Intern.
Reports to: Senior M&E Advisor, WWF CCO
Supervises: n/a
Location: Yaounde
Duration: six (06) months
Major Functions
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Advisor, the PMEL Intern will contribute to the development of and enhancing tools, techniques, guidelines and training materials for programme development, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and learning to advance results- based programming.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Contribute to designing, maintenance and implementation of high-quality results-based consolidated PMEL systems for CCO and its programmes to ensure timely collection, management, and dissemination of data for reporting progress towards the programmes’ objectives.

Contribute to undertaking analytical and evaluative functions in facilitating intra-projects coordination of reporting and monitoring format, including developing unified reporting formats and frequency of reporting and distribution timelines (tracking and trends in overall programme PMEL performance);

Support the Senior PMEL Advisor in providing MEL guidance, oversight, and trainings to staff, including indicator development, data collection techniques and methodologies, measurement tools and analysis, and reporting protocols; developing and promoting the use of training materials, reference materials, and written guidance to all project staff and sub-grantees.

Contribute to identifying and providing Terms of Reference for internal and external evaluators to carry out technical and professionally specific evaluations as required by international standards of probity and good practice;

Contribute to field projects assistance to local communities in identifying and prioritizing livelihood strategies as well as elaborate and implement criteria/protocol for monitoring and evaluating effective community and institutional involvement in integrated conservation and development activities in project sites in alignment to expectations of results of the WWF global PMEL system;


Contribute to reviewing the quality of existing social and economic data in the project area, the methods of collecting it and the degree to which it will provide good baseline statistics for impact evaluation;

Contribute to developing a plan for project-related capacity-building on PMEL and reporting and organize and undertaking training with stakeholders, including primary stakeholders, in PMEL skills, including participatory aspects;

Contribute to carrying out monitoring visits and consultations on the review of progress on a sixth monthly periodic basis as well as to providing guidance to ensure PMEL plans are consistent with the WWF guidelines and policies.

Contribute to assisting with the development and/or reformulation of project proposals of existing projects.

In collaboration with the Senior M&E Advisor, review, produce and disseminate technical documents for WWF-CCO and its projects.
Profile:
Required Qualifications:

Minimum of bachelor’s degree (BsC) in Biology or Social Sciences or development or conservation related subject, or equivalent standard of education.
Required Skills and Competencies:

Strong analytical skills including analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data;

Conscientious, with an excellent sense of judgment;

Excellent communication and team-building qualities;

Regional and cultural knowledge and sensitivity;

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment;

Demonstrated strong understanding of cultural and social environment in the region, and be able to live and work successfully in those environments;

Willingness and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people;

Ability to work as part of a team and coordinate with other project personnel;

Computer literate and strong organizational skills.

Working Relationships
Internal
In collaboration with the Senior M&E Advisor, work with all project/programme managers and other technical staffs on project development, PMEL and socio-economic related issues.
External
In collaboration with the Senior M&E Advisor, work with all programme partners (local communities, local NGOs, Government – MINFOF, private sector, international NGOs etc.) on data collection and provision and analysis as well as on development and conservation related issues.
