Helen Keller Intl has operated in Cameroon since 1992, delivering integrated programs in nutrition, neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), eye health, and local governance across eight regions.
Purpose or Scope of Work
Helen Keller Intl is dedicated to eliminating preventable vision loss, malnutrition, and diseases of poverty. This role will help ensure that our Cameroon country program operates efficiently, compliantly, and in service of program impact.
Management/Functional Relationships
This role reports to the Country Director and supervises Program Managers. It works closely with the Finance Manager and global/HQ technical colleagues. Externally, the role engages with the Ministry of Public Health, donors, UN agencies, civil-society partners, and technical working groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical/Programmatic: Provide oversight across the program portfolio, reviewing work plans, implementation progress, donor reports, and leading monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge-management systems.
- People Management: Manage and develop Program Managers through performance conversations, objective-setting, and coaching.
- Operations/Coordination: Track budget execution, coordinate corrective actions, and support funding proposals and strategic documents.
- External Engagement: Represent Helen Keller in technical working groups, coordination forums, and stakeholder meetings.
Skills & Experience
- Technical & Leadership Competencies: Strong leadership and team management skills, ability to build alignment across stakeholders.
- Operational & Functional Skills: Expertise in nutrition, NTDs, or eye health; experience with donor-funded project compliance and budget monitoring.
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred; minimum seven years of experience managing multi-sector public-health or nutrition programs.
Working Conditions/Travel
Periodic field travel to program sites — approximately 30–35% of time — and occasional international travel for organizational meetings or trainings. Professional fluency in English and French is required.
