1. Background
Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) is a global project funded by the U.S.
President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Department of State (DOS).
The project provides strategic technical assistance and direct service delivery to achieve HIV
epidemic control among at-risk populations, strengthen global health security, expand tuberculosis
detection and treatment, improve maternal and child health, address malaria, and promote health
systems strengthening.
In Cameroon, the EpiC project supports the continuation and expansion of life-saving HIV
prevention, treatment, care, and support services, with a strong focus on community-led approaches
integrated with facility-based systems to close gaps in HIV case finding (first 95) while sustaining
progress toward the second and third 95 of the UNAIDS targets.
International Health Alliance (IHA) is a non-governmental organization committed to promoting
self-directed and sustainable community health through enlightenment activities, capacity building,
and strategic partnerships.
IHA will implement the FHI360-led EpiC Cameroon project in the Southwest Region,
specifically in the health districts of Kumba South, Mbonge, Ekondo Titi, and Nguti.
2. Position Summary
IHA is seeking a qualified and experienced Project Coordinator / Project Manager to lead the
programmatic implementation of the EpiC Cameroon project at the community-based organization
(CBO) level.
The Project Coordinator will provide overall leadership, coordination, and management of project
activities, ensuring alignment with donor requirements, government policies, and organizational
strategies. The position requires close collaboration with government partners, technical teams, and
stakeholders to ensure high-quality implementation and achievement of project results.
3. Key Responsibilities
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
• Provide overall leadership and management to ensure coherent project direction and effective
implementation.
• Build the technical and managerial capacities of project staff through mentorship, coaching,
and performance management.
• Coordinate with operations, finance, and M&E teams to ensure compliance with donor
regulations, effective budget management, knowledge management, and risk mitigation.
• Support technical and M&E staff to document, analyze, and disseminate lessons learned and
best practices.
• Ensure routine field monitoring visits to assess quality, progress, and adherence to project
plans.
• Collaborate with the Finance Unit to ensure staff understand financial and administrative
procedures related to project budgeting and reporting.
• Represent IHA professionally with government partners, implementing partners, donors, and
other stakeholders at the regional level.
• Support the Executive Director in stakeholder engagement, advocacy actions, and official
visits.
• Foster a results-oriented supervisory environment that promotes accountability, learning,
productivity, and transparency.
• Contribute to the preparation of monthly and quarterly work plans, performance monitoring
plans, and narrative reports.
• Perform any other related duties necessary for achieving the overall goals of the Epi project,
as assigned.
4. Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Education
• Master’s degree or international equivalent in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field.
• Project Management certification is an added advantage.
Experience
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience, with at least three (3) years in
a similar managerial role.
• Prior experience working with PEPFAR-funded projects is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) or Community-Based
Organizations (CBOs).
• Demonstrated experience managing multi-sector public health projects.
• Experience operating in insecure or humanitarian settings is an asset.
Skills and Competencies
• Strong project planning, coordination, and implementation skills.
• Excellent report writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Fluency in English and French is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to travel regularly within the Southwest Region.
• Cultural sensitivity and strong understanding of the Cameroonian public health and
sociopolitical context.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
