Relationship Officer

Job Title: Credit & Corporate Client Relationship Officer
Department: Lending and Recovery Department
Reports To: General Manager
Location: Douala, Cameroon
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose
The Credit & Corporate Client Relationship Officer, expands, and retains a high-value portfolio of
corporate, SME, institutional, and group clients. This role acts as a strategic financial partner to large PECCU
COOP-BOD members—handling financial needs end-to-end, evaluating complex credit applications,
ensuring structured repayment, and cross-selling institutional deposit and payroll solutions.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
1. Corporate Portfolio Growth & Relationship Management
● Client Acquisition: Identify, prospect, and onboard high-value commercial accounts, SMEs,
cooperatives, and non-profit/institutional clients.
● Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for corporate accounts, managing
day-to-day financial operations, loan disbursements, and account maintenance.
● Deposit Mobilization: Cross-sell institutional financial products, including corporate deposit
accounts, payroll management services, and treasury products.
2. Credit Underwriting & Risk Analysis

● Financial Appraisal: Conduct deep-dive financial analysis on corporate balance sheets, profit-and-
loss statements, cash flows, and operational viability.

● Credit Structuring: Design tailored loan terms, cash-flow-aligned repayment schedules, and credit
structures (e.g., working capital lines, equipment finance, asset-backed loans).
● Credit Proposals: Prepare clear, data-driven credit memos and present risk-assessed applications
to the Management Credit Committee.
3. Portfolio Quality & Compliance
● Account Monitoring: Conduct regular site visits, financial reviews, and covenant checks to monitor
borrower health and business operations.
● Early Warning & Recovery: Track repayment schedules closely to prevent delinquency,
implementing early interventions or restructuring strategies if risk indicators emerge.
● Regulatory Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money
Laundering (AML), and institutional credit risk policies.

Qualifications & Experience
● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Corporate Strategy, or Economics.
● Experience:
○ 3–5+ years in corporate credit underwriting, commercial lending, or SME relationship management
within banking, microfinance, or non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs). A knowledge in the oil and
gas sector is a plus
● Domain Knowledge: Deep expertise in formal and semi-formal corporate financial analysis, working
capital dynamics, trade finance, and corporate risk assessment.
Core Competencies & Skills
● Financial Analysis: Advanced ability to analyze complex financial statements, ratios, cash flows,
and business projections.
● Deal Structuring & Negotiation: Strong commercial skills to negotiate loan covenants, interest
rates, and loan structures that align with risk limits.
● Corporate Communication: Excellent presentation, negotiation, and written communication skills
suitable for executive-level clients.
● Communication & Negotiation: Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills in English and
French.
● Integrity & Compliance: Uncompromising ethical standards and adherence to risk governance
guidelines.
