ABOUT CHAI

The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low- and middle-income countries. We work in partnership with governments and the private sector to build and strengthen sustainable, high-quality health systems.

CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, with the aim of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving medicines and expanding access to them in the countries hit hardest by the disease. Over the past two decades, CHAI's work has grown well beyond HIV. Today, we partner with governments to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis, while also supporting efforts against cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases. Our work also extends to accelerating access to life-saving vaccines, reducing maternal and child mortality, addressing chronic malnutrition, and expanding access to assistive technologies. We invest in cross-cutting, horizontal approaches that strengthen health systems through human resources for health, digital health, and health financing programs. Across every new and innovative program, our strategy is designed to maximize sustainable impact at scale, ensuring that governments lead the solutions, that programs are designed to scale nationally, and that lessons learned are shared globally.

CHAI's staff are its greatest asset, and none of this work would be possible without their talent, time, dedication, and passion for our mission and values. We are a highly diverse team of enthusiastic people spread across more than 40 countries, bringing a wide range of skills and life experiences to our work. CHAI is deeply embedded in the countries where we operate, with the majority of our staff based in program countries. Learn more about our work at www.clintonhealthaccess.org.

CHAI is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to providing an environment of fairness and mutual respect, where all candidates have access to equal employment opportunities. CHAI values diversity and inclusion and recognizes that our mission is best advanced by the leadership and contributions of people with diverse experience, backgrounds, and culture.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

CHAI Cameroon supports the Ministry of Public Health (MINSANTE) across a broad portfolio of health programs, including malaria, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (SRMNCH), and laboratory systems strengthening.

Each of these programs regularly carries out field-based and facility-level data collection exercises, including qualitative and quantitative data collection. To respond efficiently to these recurring needs, CHAI Cameroon is establishing a single, generic roster of qualified Data Collectors who can be mobilized across any of its programs.

POSITION OVERVIEW

CHAI Cameroon is seeking to build a pool of qualified, reliable, and experienced quantitative and qualitative Data Collectors to support data collection activities across its program portfolio, including but not limited to Malaria, NCDs, SRMNCH, and Laboratory Systems/MDx. This is a generic call for applications: candidates selected will not be assigned to a single fixed project, but will instead be added to a roster of pre-vetted personnel that CHAI's various programs can draw upon as data collection needs arise.

Selected Data Collectors will be engaged on a short-term, intermittent basis for the duration of specific data collection exercises (ranging from a few days to a few weeks), as and when required by a given program. The roster will remain valid through December 2026, and inclusion on the roster does not guarantee a minimum number of assignments; deployment will depend on each program's actual needs over that period.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administer structured questionnaires and survey tools at health facility, community, or stakeholder level, using paper-based or digital data collection platforms (e.g., KoBoToolbox, ODK, REDCap).

Conduct semi-structured interviews with key informants and other stakeholders, where required by the assignment.

Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and quality of all data collected, and flag inconsistencies or missing information for follow-up rather than estimating or inventing values.

Travel to assigned health facilities, districts, or regions to complete fieldwork within the timelines set for each assignment.

Report progress, challenges, and data quality issues promptly to the relevant CHAI project lead or supervisor.

Availability to attend mandatory enumerator training and pilot before deployment.

Safe handling of devices and participant data (passwords, no local copies, timely sync/upload).

Comply with research ethics requirements, including informed consent procedures and confidentiality of participant and facility data.

Carry out any other related data collection tasks assigned by the supervising program team within the scope of the assignment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Public Health, Nursing or other Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Demography, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related field.

Prior experience conducting health-related data collection (facility surveys, household surveys, or similar) is an asset.

Familiarity with electronic data collection tools such as KoBoToolbox, ODK, or REDCap is an asset.

Strong written and oral communication skills in French; working knowledge of English is an asset.

Willingness and ability to travel extensively within Cameroon, including to rural and remote areas, on short notice.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with health facility staff and other stakeholders.

Familiarity with the Cameroonian health system (health facility categories/FOSA, district and regional health structures) is an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND COMPENSATION

This is not a fixed-term employment position. Selected candidates will be retained on a roster and engaged under short-term service agreements specific to each data collection assignment, with compensation (daily rate or assignment fee, plus applicable travel/per diem where relevant) communicated at the time an assignment is offered. The roster will remain active through December 2026.

HOW TO APPLY

Interested candidates who meet the above qualifications should submit their application to chaicameroonhr@clintonhealthaccess.org; including:

         An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV).

A cover letter outlining relevant experience in data collection.

Email title: Application – Field Data Collector – [Region Name]

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further assessment. Submission of an application does not guarantee inclusion on the roster, and inclusion on the roster does not guarantee an assignment.
