Position Title: Mechanical Technician

Number of Positions: 4

Salary: 150,000fcfa-200,000fcta

1. Job Summary

The Mechanical Technician will support expert engineers in the inspection, routine maintenance, repair, servicing, and mechanical overhaul of freight wagons at Douala. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, practical hands-on experience, good workshop discipline, and strict compliance with industrial health and safety standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

·       Assist expert engineers with the inspection and maintenance of freight wagons.

·       Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, servicing, and mechanical overhaul under technical supervision.

·       Support maintenance and repair activities on bogies and related mechanical components.

·       Inspect, maintain, and repair air brake systems and associated mechanical equipment.

·       Assist with the inspection, servicing, and repair of couplers and coupling components.

·       Support maintenance and repair of wagon body structures and mechanical assemblies.

·       Use workshop tools, equipment, and measuring instruments safely and correctly.

·       Identify mechanical faults and report defects or abnormal conditions to the responsible supervisor.

·       Follow scheduled maintenance procedures, technical instructions, and workshop practices.

·       Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

·       Strictly follow industrial safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company/workshop regulations.

. 3 Minimum Qualifications & Experience

·       At least Baccalauréat or GCE Advanced Level (A-Level).

·       Technical vocational training in mechanical engineering, mechanical fitting, maintenance, or a related field.

·       3-5 years of proven practical experience as a Mechanical Fitter/Technician ..

·       Practical experience in industrial, railway, heavy equipment, or similar mechanical maintenance environments is an advantage.

·       Bilingual (English fluent, French intermedia)

4. Technical Skills & Competencies

·       Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills.

·       Ability to understand and follow technical instructions and maintenance procedures.

·       Basic knowledge of mechanical components, assemblies, and maintenance practices.

·       Ability to work with hand tools, workshop equipment, and mechanical measuring tools.

·       Ability to identify mechanical defects and communicate technical issues clearly.

·       Good understanding of workshop discipline and safe working practices.

5. Safety & Work Requirements

·       Strict adherence to industrial health and safety standards is mandatory.

·       Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and workshop safety equipment.

·       Ability to work in a workshop environment and perform physically demanding mechanical tasks when required.

·       Ability to work effectively under the supervision of engineers and technical supervisors.
