Job opportunity: Tax and Legal  Counsel (2-5 years) Energy sector Douala, Cameroon

Akoa Mballa & Co is a professional firm specializing in tax and legal services for a broad range of clients. The firm is recruiting on behalf of its client, a company in the energy sector operating in Cameroon within an international environment.

A dual role: Tax & Legal

Legal
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial and project contracts (EPC, O&M, supply, services, joint ventures)
• Handle OHADA corporate matters: board and shareholder meetings, filings, corporate transactions
• Manage licences, permits and regulatory compliance in the energy sector
• Manage disputes and legal risk with external counsel

Tax
• Manage tax compliance (CIT, VAT, withholding taxes, annual returns)
• Apply sector-specific tax regimes, exemptions and tax stability clauses
• Handle transfer pricing documentation and intra-group flows
• Prepare and manage tax audits and disputes

The profile
• Master's degree in business law or tax law
• 2 to 5 years of legal and tax experience, including at least 2 years in a firm (Big Four, law firm or tax advisory firm)
• Solid command of OHADA law and Cameroonian tax law; energy or extractive sector exposure is a strong plus
• Fluent English is MANDATORY: you will draft, negotiate and report in English. Fluent French is also required.
• Rigorous, proactive and business-minded
